Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions set out the legal agreement between you and A1 Taxis. They explain how our services operate, your rights and responsibilities, and the limits of our liability. By making a booking, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

1. General

Scope and acceptance of these Terms

1.1 These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made with A1 Taxis, whether made via our website, mobile application, telephone, or in person.

1.2 By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1.3 Where a booking is made on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms & Conditions on their behalf.

1.4 Acceptance of these Terms may be given electronically, verbally, or by continued use of our services.

2. Definitions

Clarification of key terms

2.1 In these Terms & Conditions, the following definitions apply:

2.1.1 "A1 Taxis", "we", "us", "our" means the licensed private hire operator.

2.1.2 "You / Your" means the person making the booking.

2.1.3 "Passenger" means any person travelling in the vehicle other than the driver.

2.1.4 "Booking" means a confirmed request for transport services.

2.1.5 "Agreed Pickup Point" means the confirmed collection location.

2.1.6 "Agreed Pickup Time" means the confirmed date and time of collection.

2.1.7 "Trip" means the journey from pickup to destination.

2.1.8 "Fare" means the price payable for the trip.

2.1.9 "Quote" means a fixed or estimated fare provided prior to booking.

2.1.10 "Supplier" means A1 Taxis or a licensed driver or operator fulfilling the booking.

2.1.11 "Card" means a debit or credit card used for payment.

2.1.12 "Cash" means payment made directly to the driver.

2.1.13 "Personal Data" means information capable of identifying an individual.

2.1.14 "Licensing Authority" means the relevant local authority responsible for licensing.

3. Use of Services and Website

Customer responsibilities and lawful use

3.1 You must provide accurate and complete information when making a booking.

3.2 We are not responsible for delays, failures, or additional charges arising from incorrect information provided by you.

3.3 By using our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding contract.

3.4 We reserve the right to refuse or cancel bookings where safety, availability, or compliance concerns arise.

3.5 Website usage data may be collected for operational and service improvement purposes.

3.6 Cookies are used to enhance website functionality. Disabling cookies may affect site performance.

4. Bookings and Availability

How bookings are confirmed and fulfilled

4.1 All bookings are subject to vehicle and driver availability.

4.2 A booking is only confirmed once confirmation is issued via website, app, SMS, email, or telephone.

4.3 All bookings are subject to these Terms & Conditions.

4.4 Special requests (including child seats, wheelchair access, additional luggage capacity, or driver preferences) are not guaranteed and should be requested in advance.

4.5 We reserve the right to correct pricing or typographical errors.

4.6 Where a pricing error affects your booking, you may cancel the booking for a full refund.

4.7 Card payments for prepaid bookings may be taken in full prior to the trip.

4.8 We may subcontract bookings to appropriately licensed operators or drivers to ensure service delivery.

5. Payments and Charges

Fares, payment methods, and additional costs

5.1 Card payments are payable at the time of booking.

5.2 Cash payments must be paid directly to the driver at the end of the trip.

5.3 Once confirmed, bookings cannot be amended or cancelled except in accordance with Section 7.

5.4 If a card payment is declined, the booking will not be completed.

5.5 Additional charges may apply for:

  • Excess or undeclared luggage
  • Route deviations
  • Waiting time
  • Vehicle upgrades or special requirements

5.6 Tips are optional and given at the passenger’s discretion.

6. Insurance and Personal Property

Responsibility for belongings

6.1 Passenger belongings are not insured by A1 Taxis.

6.2 Passengers are responsible for insuring their own property.

6.3 We accept no liability for loss or damage to personal items, except where required by law.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

Refund eligibility and time limits

7.1 Bookings may be cancelled via the website, app, or by telephone.

7.2 Cancellations made more than 25 minutes before pickup time qualify for a full refund.

7.3 Cancellations made within 25 minutes of pickup time are non-refundable.

7.4 If the vehicle does not arrive within:

  • 15 minutes (non-airport bookings), or
  • 30 minutes (airport bookings),
  • a full refund may be requested provided the trip is not completed.

7.5 If the passenger is not present within 15 minutes of pickup time, the booking may be cancelled without refund.

7.6 Refunds may take up to 5 business days to process.

8. Liability and Disclaimers

Limits of responsibility

8.1 A1 Taxis operates under licences issued by the appropriate Licensing Authority.

8.2 We are not liable for delays caused by traffic, weather, road conditions, or events beyond our control.

8.3 Except where prohibited by law, our total liability is limited to £500.

8.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

8.5 Journey times are estimates only. You are responsible for allowing sufficient travel time.

8.6 We may send booking updates via SMS or email; delivery timing is not guaranteed.

9. Passenger Behaviour

Safety and conduct standards

9.1 We may refuse service or terminate a journey if passenger behaviour compromises safety or comfort.

9.2 Alcohol consumption is not permitted in vehicles.

9.3 We may refuse carriage to passengers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

10. Prohibited Items

Items we cannot carry

10.1 We do not carry:

  • Illegal items
  • Hazardous, flammable, or explosive materials
  • Items exceeding £50 in intrinsic value
  • Fragile or perishable goods

10.2 We accept no liability for loss or damage to goods carried.

10.3 These exclusions do not apply to liability for personal injury or death.

11. Complaints and Disputes

Issue resolution process

11.1 Complaints should be raised within 24 hours of the issue occurring.

11.2 Complaints may be submitted by telephone or email and will be handled promptly and fairly.

12. Privacy Policy

Data protection and transparency

12.1 Personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

12.2 We do not sell or unlawfully share personal data.

12.3 Privacy Policy updates will be published on our website.

13. Miscellaneous

Legal completeness

13.1 These Terms & Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and A1 Taxis.

13.2 Failure to enforce any provision does not waive our rights.

13.3 These Terms & Conditions are governed by English Law.
