A1 Taxis operates a strict Zero Tolerance Policy in relation to alcohol, illegal drugs, and any intoxicating substances. This policy applies to all drivers working on behalf of A1 Taxis and reflects our commitment to passenger safety, public protection, and full compliance with UK private hire and road traffic legislation.
Any behaviour that compromises safety, professionalism, or regulatory standards is not tolerated.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Drivers must not operate a vehicle for A1 Taxis while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any substance that may impair driving ability, judgement, or reaction time. This includes the misuse of prescription or over-the-counter medication where such use affects fitness to drive.
All drivers are required to be fit for duty at all times and to comply with:
- UK Road Traffic Law
- Local Authority private hire licensing conditions
- A1 Taxis professional conduct standards
Any breach of this policy may result in immediate removal from service, termination of association with A1 Taxis, notification to the relevant Licensing Authority, and referral to law enforcement where required.
Reporting a Driver Under the Influence
Passenger safety is our priority. If a passenger or member of the public has concerns about a driver’s fitness to drive, they are encouraged to report the matter immediately.
Reports may be made using A1 Taxis’ official contact channels, including telephone, email, or WhatsApp. All reports are treated seriously and handled confidentially wherever possible.
Investigation Process
All reports are assessed promptly and professionally. Where appropriate, the driver may be suspended from duty while an investigation is conducted.
Investigations may involve review of booking records, vehicle tracking data, communication logs, and liaison with the relevant Local Authority Licensing Team or law enforcement agencies.
Where a breach is identified, appropriate action will be taken in line with legal, regulatory, and safety obligations.
